Ann C. (Kelliher) Hastings, beloved matriarch and immense source of strength and love, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 10, 2024. Born on December 18, 1936, in Boston, MA, Nancy was a kind and faithful woman whose life was a testament to the power of Prayer, Love and Kindness.
The love of her life, the late Edward Hastings Sr., her husband of 64 years, predeceased her, leaving a legacy of enduring love. Nancy was a devoted mother to Kathleen Hastings of Norwood, Elaine Gately and her husband Thomas of Walpole, Mary Hernon and her husband Francis of Norwood, Patricia Yanchuk and her husband Michael of Norwood, and the late Edward Hastings Jr. and his surviving wife AnnMarie of Canton, and Paul Hastings Sr. and his surviving wife Julie Quattrochio of Maine.
Nancy’s brothers, the late John J. Kelliher Jr. and Leonard Kelliher, held a special place in her heart she loved her times spent with them and the laughter could be heard miles away.
Nancy’s life was filled with dedication to her family and community. Nancy was known for her loving, friendly nature and her great laugh. Her kindness radiated and touched the hearts of so many. She devoted her life to her family and friendships. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish of Hyde Park for many years where she met her life-long best friends, they raised their families together, they attended daily mass always followed by coffee their bond was unbreakable.
However, it was in her role as "Grammy" that Nancy’s love shone brightest. Her grandchildren Kerianne, Patrick, Erin, Kasey, Jackie, Paul Francis Jr., Timothy, Matthew, Eddie, Daniel, Sean, Frankie, Lauren, Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Cecilia, along with her eight great-grandchildren, were the recipients of her boundless love and affection.
Nancy’s interests and passions were a reflection of her love for life and family. She was devoted to her family, cherishing the time spent playing card games for hours, reveling in the joy of holidays and family traditions, summer beach vacations with her family and the occasional trip to the casino.
The words that best describe Nancy – loving, kind, generous – only begin to capture the essence of a woman whose presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her life was a living example of kindness in action, inspired by her devotion to the Blessed Mother, a legacy that continues through the lives of those she touched.
Nancy leaves behind not only a family but a community enriched by her love and friendship. Her passing is not just a loss but a celebration of a life well lived, a life that has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones. May we all find comfort in the cherished memories and the profound legacy she leaves behind. Nancy will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
