Emily M. Traut, 91, of Sharon, Massachusetts, passed away on April 14, 2020, of Covid-19 at Ellis Nursing Home, Norwood, MA.
Born Emily M. Schensnol on August 10, 1928 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Leon and Anna Schensnol. Although born in the US, Emily spent the first 14 years of her life in Lithuania. The family returned to the US permanently in 1942 aboard the USS American Legion.
Emily graduated from Sharon High School in 1947 and married her sweetheart, Conrad Traut in 1948. They lived on a small farm in Sharon where they raised 6 children. Emily was an active member in the community as a Camp Fire Girls leader, a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Women’s Club, and a member of the Massapoag Horsemen’s Association.
Many will remember Emily as the proprietor of the “Fitting Room” on Billings Street where she was a successful business woman for 25 years. Many a wedding and prom dress was fitted at her shop. Emily was an active member of the Sharon Rotary Club, where she received an honorary lifetime membership.
Emily is survived by six children: Rebecca Munson & her late husband Thomas of Alaska; Joanne & Chris Kleintjes of Nevada, Katrena & Tim Traut-Savino of Massachusetts; Valerie & Mark Ventresco of Massachusetts; Stephanie Klingele of Texas and Conrad & Celina Traut of Massachusetts. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Matthew Savino, Katherine (Traut-Savino) Planchard, Jessica Traut-Savino, Lori Traut-Savino, Christina Rolli, Deanna (Rolli) O’Reilly, Lauren Klingele, Tony Klingele, Hailey Traut, Alyssa Traut, Nathan Traut, and one great-grandchild, Lilia O’Reilly. Emily was predeceased by her husband in 1980, as well as her two brothers; Luke, John and her sister Ona.
Emily was immensely proud of her family, and although she is no longer with us, we will never forget the impact she had on our lives.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
