Ernesto DeVito, age 69, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home following a very courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born July 29, 1951 in Grottolella, Italy, son of the late Pasquale DeVito and Gilda Tropeano of Italy. Beloved husband of 42 years to his best friend Silvana (Sylvia) DeVito. Devoted father to his son Antonio (Tony) DeVito and his wife Melissa McAvoy of Franklin and to his daughter Jillian DeVito of Mansfield. Loving Nonno to his cherished grandchildren Mia, Sofia and Antonio of Franklin. Brother of the late Felice and Vincenzo, brother to Miranda and Rina, brother in law to Giuseppina Lo Casto and Giuseppina and Luigi Alviggi of Italy. Uncle to many nieces and nephews here and in Italy. He leaves behind many uncles, aunts and cousins who he loved dearly here in the United States, in Italy and in Australia. He was the proud co-owner together with his son of American Brake Service of Canton for the past 26 years.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday September 27 from 4 to 7 pm. Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, only 25 guests are allowed in the funeral home at a time. Masks are required, and guests should bring their own pens to sign the register book.
A Funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Monday morning at 10 am. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
