Frank D Matthews III

MATTHEWS III, Frank D. of Walpole passed peacefully on March 3rd surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76.  Beloved husband of Bonnie G. (Greene) of 50 years.  Devoted father of Jillian Greenberg and her husband Adam of Boston and the late Nathan Matthews.  Cherished brother in law of Ellen Greene of Pennsylvania.  Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5-7pm at the Alexander F. Thomas & Sons Funeral Home, 45 Common Street, Walpole.  Relatives and friends invited. Funeral Service and interment will be private at family's request.  Please in lieu of flowers all donations in Frank's memory can be made to the Walpole Public Library, 143 School Street, Walpole. 

Frank was born on March 23, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Frank D. Matthews Jr and Emily M. (Beech) Matthews and was always known as Buzz.  He received his BS and MS in Metallurgical Engineering from Penn State and spent over 50 years as a Metallurgical Engineer, including over 40 years in the medical device field specializing in orthopaedic implants and instruments.  Most of his career was dedicated to Johnson & Johnson, but he has been a consultant and adviser to many in the field.

Buzz enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing anywhere he could cast a line, annual trips to Great Pond in Belgrade Maine, antique clock collecting and vintage motorcycles (especially BMWs).  He had wonderful friends and family and always looked forward to the Pig Roast, canoeing the Battenkill River, gatherings in NH and visits to PA to see extended family.
