Marilyn Coyne Obituary

COYNE, Marilyn J. (Watterson) of Walpole, formerly of Sharon, passed away on August 23 at the age of 86.  Beloved wife of the late Robert Coyne. Loving stepmother of Beverly Corsetti and the late Michael Coyne and Jeanne Hunt.

Devoted sister of Pamela Collier, Alan Watterson and the late Carol Desnoyers.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Marilyn grew up in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School. She attended Chandler School for Women and graduated from Bryant College in Rhode Island with a B.S. in Accounting.

Marilyn put that degree to good use in the banking industry working for several large banks, progressing from her first job as a teller to a branch manager of numerous facilities to a position of Vice President of Operations and Customer Service. She was a woman ahead of her time who demanded excellence of herself in everything she did business wise and personally.

She was a consummate professional and serious about her career, but Marilyn also knew how to have fun! She loved to entertain family and friends and always went “all out” preparing delicious homemade dishes and desserts. Paper plates and paper cups were not in her repertoire, though. She insisted on china and silverware for her guests. She was a truly thoughtful and classy hostess.

That thoughtfulness carried over in many areas of her life. She was generous and giving to family and friends, often surprising recipients with something she made herself. She was an experienced knitter and enjoyed other needle crafts such as crewel and needlepoint. She loved Christmas and delighted in selecting or making “just the right gift” for each of her nieces and nephews.

Marilyn married Bob Coyne late in life. The couple made the most of their time together traveling to Alaska and cruising down the Mississippi, but their favorite travels were to Florida in winter where they enjoyed beaches, casinos and golf. Marilyn achieved what every golfer strives for and hardly ever gets ... a hole in one!

What Marilyn set her mind to do she did – and did it well. She touched many lives during her working career offering help to many along the way. She lived an admirable life and will be remembered for her many kindnesses. She will be missed.
